About this program

This vaccination program is coordinated by The Vaccination Hub in partnership with selected Victorian Local Public Health Units. We make it easy for eligible residents to access free MMR vaccines at participating community pharmacies.

The MMR vaccine protects you against measles, mumps and rubella, all highly contagious diseases that can make you very sick. With measles cases on the rise, ensuring adults are fully protected is a crucial public health priority. The MMR vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect individuals and reduce community transmission.

Am I eligible?

Not sure if you need the vaccine? Ask your pharmacist to check your immunisation record. You can also check your immunisation history on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) through MyGov. You do not need a Medicare card to access this program.

You are eligible if:

  • You are 20–59 years old
  • You have not received two doses of MMR vaccine
  • You are unsure if you have had two doses of MMR vaccine

You are not eligible if:

  • You have a documented history of two MMR vaccine doses
  • People with confirmed immunity through a blood test
  • Pregnant women (wait until after delivery)
  • People with severe allergic reaction to MMR vaccine

Getting your free MMR vaccination is simple. Follow these four easy steps.

Yes! The measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine is free for people who can get it under this program.

You do not need a Medicare card to get a voucher.

When you show your voucher at a pharmacy that is part of the program, you will not pay anything. The vaccine and the service are both free.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Most participating pharmacies let you walk-in without an appointment. But we recommend calling first. This helps you check they have the vaccine and if they are busy.

How do I know if I need the MMR vaccine?

You may need the vaccine if:

  • You are 20–59 years of age
  • You haven’t had two documented doses of MMR vaccine

If you are not sure, the pharmacist can check your history.

What if my postcode isn’t participating?

If your Local Public Health Unit is not offering vouchers through pharmacies, you’ll be directed to information about how they’re offering MMR vaccinations in your area.

Can I get vaccinated at any pharmacy in Victoria?

Yes, you can go to any pharmacy in Victoria that is part of the program for your vaccination. Your voucher is linked to your home postcode. This makes sure the right Local Public Health Unit pays for your vaccine.

  • Photo ID
  • Your Medicare card, if you have one

If you have old vaccination records, bring those too. They can help.
